As Construction Manager, Columbia provided both preconstruction and construction services for East Boston Savings Bank’s new headquarters in Peabody, MA. The project included the demolition of an existing 18,000 sf facility. Teaming with Bergmeyer Associates and Diversified Project Management, Columbia constructed, on the existing footprint, a two-story, 34,300 sf, first-class building.
The facility includes a retail bank branch, drive-through banking, automatic teller machines, corporate offices and support spaces including eight conference rooms and a full kitchen.
A two-story, 6,800 sf radial custom curtainwall with a full skylight comprises the facade. This includes a custom, louvered exterior sunshade system.
A notable feature of this project is the Argeton terra cotta tile system used on both the interior and exterior of the facility. In addition to providing architectural interest, this innovative rainscreen system prevents problems such as inadequate drainage from harming the integrity of the building.
