Columbia recently completed the final stage of the Waltham Watch Factory redevelopment. This phase of the project called for over 60 units of residences, all with beautiful views of the surrounding newly refurbished historic complex as well as the banks of the Charles River. Implemented in three phases, the overall project entailed the adaptive reuse of this 400,000 sf complex. Phase I included 160,000 sf of core & shell commercial space, interior fit-ups for prospective tenants, and a public Waltham Watch Company history exhibit. Phase II included 97 loft-style residential units, two restaurants and a structured parking area.  Finally, Phase III included 67 residential units and the construction of a new parking deck.

The Queen Anne and Romanesque Revival style complex was constructed by the Waltham Watch Company over multiple decades starting in the 1860s. The Watch Factory is characterized by a series of narrow wings with regimented rows of windows designed to maximize daylight for the detailed production of watches. The windows were all replaced as part of this project.

In undertaking this project, Berkeley Investments not only preserved this historic landmark, but also contributed to the revitalization of Waltham by bringing life back to this riverside community.
