Columbia is pleased to celebrate the anniversary of Shawn Gallant, who has been with us for 20 years!
Shawn began his career with Columbia as a Project Manager in the Interiors Group, focusing on high-end, fast-track projects in and around Boston and Cambridge. Later, he served as Columbia’s Life Sciences group leader, working on complex laboratories and manufacturing facilities. In Shawn’s current role as Vice President of Corporate Development, he assists with operations on specific projects and the overall management of Columbia. He also strives to provide a consistent experience for our employees and to our clients, utilizing tools and controls to create a team of employees that empower themselves and grow every day.
What have you liked most about working at Columbia?
I have enjoyed feeling part of the Columbia family and not just being viewed as an employee. From my first day at Columbia, I always felt that my coworkers truly cared about my family and me. As I grew professionally at Columbia, they supported me every step of the way.
What lesson did you learn early-on in your career that you still carry with you today?
From my first-hand experience watching Bruce Gordon, I learned how important it is to remain professional, calm, and level-headed, even in the most challenging situations. It was very eye-opening to understand and is something that has stayed with me.
How would your colleagues/clients describe you?
I feel everyone sees that I work hard, but I try to have fun and make work an enjoyable environment. I am also honest; typically, you know where you stand with me.

Special talent or most useful skill?
I am a “Jack of all trades” with home repairs.

Playing hockey

My favorite spot is at home, hanging out by the pool.

Cat or dog?
Dog, but in general, I am a huge animal lover.
Morning person or night owl?
Morning person. I go to bed at 8 pm on weekdays and weekends!

Spending quality time with my family.
Throughout the company, Shawn is known for his dedication and desire to advance Columbia while still making it feel like a close-knit family.
