Located along the Charles River, the hotel was reconfigured to provide nine additional luxury guestrooms, all with views of the Boston skyline. This was accomplished by demolishing one full-floor containing an outdated fitness center with swimming pool. The construction of the new guestroom addition was challenging due to the fact that all construction activities took place over and around the busy and fully occupied hotel. Carefully sequencing ensured minimal disruption to guests and surrounding neighbors.
Previously, Columbia had completely refurbished the 16-story, 130,000 square foot hotel, with infrastructure and mechanical system upgrades, facade and window improvements, incorporation of an ornamental stair, and new fixtures, furniture and equipment.
