As the Construction Manager overseeing several initiatives for EMD Millipore, our goal was to complete a series of renovation and new construction projects throughout New England.
On the Bedford, MA campus, a 31,000 sf building was completely retrofitted to accommodate offices, process and engineering laboratories, and an assembly area. In nearby Burlington, a 139,000 sf distribution facility was renovated to house over 15,000 sf of office space, a 20,000 sf storage mezzanine, and new warehouse and packaging areas. At another EMD Millipore site in Danvers, MA, Columbia constructed a 45,000 sf addition to the Life Sciences facility, which includes several R&D laboratories, a new cafeteria, an executive office suite and a data center. Millipore also constructed a highly specialized manufacturing plant in Jaffrey, NH. Columbia built this 47,000 sf facility to Class 1 Division 1 standards.
A majority of the work required all new building systems or major upgrades and redundant mechanical and electrical systems. Throughout the project, it was imperative that all construction activities occurred without downtime or disruption to Millipore’s ongoing operations.
