Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts’ new Feigenbaum Center for Science and Innovation is an interdisciplinary facility that promotes research and discovery-based learning. The new, 67,000 sf, 4-story building includes the college’s Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Physics, and Environmental Science departments. It contains classrooms, laboratories, offices, a tiered lecture hall, 3-story atrium, research prep areas, and vivarium.
The project earned LEED Gold certification, incorporating such features as a PV solar array, a green roof garden, and solar shading on the curtain wall system. A greenhouse and an outdoor classroom expand the learning environment, providing opportunities for hands-on lessons in sustainability.
