Columbia’s work at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel has been ongoing for nearly 15 years and included the overall refurbishment of the exterior facade entailing repointing, steel angle replacements, stone repair, waterproofing, parapet reconstruction and window replacement; as well as a larger, more complex project included the refurbishment of all 383 guestrooms and bathrooms, as well as adjoining corridors.
During the time Columbia has worked at the Hotel, we have refurbished all guestrooms and corridors twice.
Completed in five-months while the hotel was fully occupied and operational, all the rooms feature entirely new decor, chandeliers, luxury bathroom amenities and new crown molding and plaster detailing. The rooms were also equipped with high-speed Internet access as well as state-of-the-art telephone service.
In later phases of the renovation project Columbia refurbished other areas of the hotel, including the lobby area, retail space, meeting rooms and the popular Oak Bar and restaurant. Major infrastructure upgrades were also performed, including ADA compliancy components, which required life safety components as well. Additionally, due to the installation of new building systems the roof required upgrades which included structural modifications to support the equipment being installed.
