Columbia’s proactive, comprehensive safety program emphasizes accident prevention rather than regulatory compliance.
Although our company safety policy either meets or exceeds all applicable sections of OSHA and other safety regulations mandated by law, it was developed to clearly communicate our company safety goals to employees, vendors and subcontractors as well as strictly enforce our Safety First culture.
As part of our commitment to health and safety, Columbia develops project specific Safety and Crisis Management Plans for each project, identifying and addressing project specific health and safety risks and concerns. In addition, as part of our rigorous subcontractor prequalification program, all subcontractors must provide a detailed and comprehensive company safety policy. Part of this plan must include mandatory weekly jobsite safety meetings as well as safety training on site, educating workers on task specific safety risks.
While all of our superintendents and project managers are OSHA certified, we develop mandatory site specific safety orientations for all workers, including subcontractors and vendors. Along with developing these site specific safety programs, our Safety Director, a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), as well as a Certified OSHA Instructor, also conducts frequent job site inspections and compliance surveys.
