Columbia requires all trade partners to be prequalified annually to be eligible to work with our company. We may require more frequent evaluation of a trade partner's eligibility depending on the scale or complexity of the work being contracted.
Prequalification is an essential step in our commitment to delivering excellence. Through prequalification, we:
  • Ensure that all trade partners meet our high standards for safety, quality, and reliability.
  • Confirm that our trade partners have the capacity, experience, and resources to contribute successfully to our projects.
  • Build a foundation of trust and collaboration, fostering partnerships that align with our values and goals.
  • Protect ourselves and all our partners from the risks associated with a subcontractor default.

The information collected during the prequalification process is used to:

  • Align your company’s capabilities with our projects.
  • Identify opportunities where expertise can be leveraged effectively.
  • Maintain compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure the safety, quality, and integrity of our construction projects.
  • Understand financial stability, current and upcoming workload, and past performance.

We treat all information submitted during prequalification with the utmost confidentiality and use it solely for the above mentioned purposes.

Our prequalification process is designed to take a holistic view of each trade partner, considering factors such as experience, resources, and safety record. It is not a final determination of your company’s capabilities or potential. Instead, it serves as an important first step in building a partnership.

We encourage all businesses — large or small, established or emerging — to engage in the process. We value our trade partners’ diverse skills and perspectives and remain committed to providing support throughout the journey.

"Expanding our trade partners is important because it brings a fresh perspective and new strengths to our projects. By creating more opportunities for historically underutilized businesses, we can share success and make a positive impact in the communities where we live and build."
