Joseph M. Smith Community Health Center Topping Off Celebration in Brighton

We celebrated a Topping Off on September 19th for a new Outpatient Care Facility for Joseph M. Smith Community Health Center. This new, LEED certified Center will consist of a new 48,000 sf, two-story building located at 495 Western Avenue in Brighton.

This project is being undertaken to help the Joseph M. Smith Health Center (JMSHC) address the increased demand for quality, affordable health services in the communities of Allston, Brighton, Waltham, and surrounding areas. It will contain a pharmacy, as well as areas for dental, optometry, community health counseling, primary care, and pediatric care. This new state-of-the-art community health center will consolidate several of the Health Center’s current sites, and provide enough space for future growth.

In order to accommodate the new facility, all existing buildings located on the site will be completely demolished and removed. A significant amount of site improvements will also be included, such as landscaping, and the configuration of new parking and walkways.

As the construction of this building is situated in a very busy and congested area of Brighton, careful coordination efforts are being implemented. Columbia has planned all construction activities to minimize impact to traffic and pedestrian flow, as well as impact to the surrounding buildings. All activities are being coordinated and communicated with various City officials, JMSCHC, and the surrounding neighborhood.
